Cathay Pacific Wings It

Even the simplest spelling errors slip through the spellcheck net...just ask Cathay Pacific.

Cathay Pacific spelt their own name wrong this week. On the side of a plane. To their credit they 'fessed up and had a laugh with the rest of us.

The takeaway here is that you can never ever trust your own eyes to tell you the truth. There are so many spelling tools and checks available online, but the only truly reliable one is a second pair of eyes tasked with searching for typos.

Even accomplished editors and copywriters will have someone else cast a critical eye over their work and a dropped 'c' or a 'd' missing from 'and' is common. Spellcheck struggles with proper nouns, and words that still make sense despite being wrong.

Still, how no one noticed Cathay Paciic is a bit of a mystery. Maybe they were just winging it.
